New technology is offering breast imaging strategies that are effective, safe, affordable and widely available

Advance for Imaging and Radiation Oncology

With sensitivity rates of 75 to 80 percent, mammography is the only breast imaging exam that has been shown to reduce breast cancer mortality. However, in high-risk women with dense breasts, sensitivity is no more than 50 percent. New technologies have been developed to improve the breast cancer detection rate, including improvements upon the standard techniques as well as new platforms for breast imaging developed from body imaging tools.
