BIROW Committee
On-line registration is now open at www.birow.org for the 2005 Biomedical Imaging Research Opportunities Workshop (BIROW III) scheduled for March 11—12, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda. Nearly 200 leading radiologic researchers, physicists and engineers are expected to participate in the workshop.
Major themes for BIROW III include:
- Cell Trafficking
Informatics Solutions in Imaging
Image-Guided Treatment
Technology Development: From Concept to Clinic
This workshop is being organized by the Radiological Society of North America, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, the Biomedical Engineering Society, the Academy of Radiology Research, and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. Information and registration forms for the 2005 workshop are available at www.birow.org.
About 180 people attended the BIROW II in Bethesda, MD, last February. The BIROW concept was organized and supported by various groups representing radiologists, engineers, and physicists. NIH Director Elias Zerhouni, MD, told the audience at BIROW I that the collaboration between interested groups presents a unique opportunity to get together and focus on the key issues.
The official report from the 2004 BIROW II is expected to be published within the next few months. The official report from the 2003 BIROW I includes an introduction and summaries from the breakout committees and can be viewed at www.birow.org.
