Additional Information Available on Mallinckrodt Recall of Tc-99m Generators

On Nov. 18 Mallinckrodt issued a voluntary product recall on its Ultra-TechneKow(R) DTE generator (Technetium Tc-99m generator) with a request for immediate discontinuation of use of any of its generators in the market. (More information about recall)

Mallinckrodt today updated its "Customer FAQs" document to include additional questions and answers about health risk to patients, the recall itself and further steps being taken. (Updated Mallinckrodt FAQ document)

On Nov. 21, the Council on Radionuclides and Radiopharmaceuticals (CORAR) released a Notice to the Nuclear Medicine Community about how industry will be cooperating in the wake of the recall to meet demand for Technetium-99m.

Also on Nov. 21, Bristol-Myers Squibb Medical Imaging issued a Letter to Customers about its plans to help meet the overall technetium Tc-99m generator demand in North America.
